Happy 2012… “Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.”

Each year I find it quite intriguing how many people talk about New Year’s Resolutions and how excited and pumped they are for the New Year. What is so intriguing, is why wait for Jan 1 to make a decision to better your life? When you think about it, every New Year’s Resolution is positive and will add great benefit to the life of the individual making it. So why wait until the infamous Jan 1 to begin? I’m not one to wait to do anything I set my mind to do. Change begins with choice, period. Once you choose to change something the journey begins….

The words,”New Year” sets precedent that this choice to change will last the whole year! Pretty daunting in my opinion. Why not make a decision today, next month, or even in the middle of the week to create greatness in your life? It’s the little things in life that I have found creates happiness and inner peace. Enjoy my Cup of Joe Manifesto. It’s remembering what is truly important in life that makes me smile. :)

The Journey

The Journey
by Reed H. Bradford

For this is the Journey that mortals make:
To find themselves. If they fail in this,
it matters little whatever else they may achieve:
Money, Fame, Revenge, Pleasure, Appearance.
When they end the Journey, they can put them all
into a bin marked “ashes” — they mean nothing.
But if one has found that she has within her
a divine soul, if she has discovered the principles
upon which the fulfillment of that soul is based,
and if she implements those principles,
then she has a mansion within which she can live
with peace and joy each day of her life.

Amen…. jeN

Words to Live By~

A Mayonnaise Jar and Two Beers….

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the Mayonnaise Jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls..

He then asked the students if the jar was full.

They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.

The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls..

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full.

The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

‘Now,’ said the professor as the laughter subsided, ‘I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things—your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions—and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else—the small stuff.

‘If you put the sand into the jar first,’ he continued, ‘there is no room for the pebbles or golf balls.

The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Spend time with your children.

Spend time with your parents.

Visit with grandparents.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your spouse out to dinner.

Play another 18.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

Take care of the golf balls first—the things that really matter.

Set your priorities…..

The rest is just sand.

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented…

The professor smiled and said, ‘I’m glad you asked.’
The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there’s always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

And the Greatest of these is LOVE…

And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the Greatest of these is LOVE.

Do You Let Your Light Shine?

Have you ever thrown a rock into a quiet creek or still, glass lake and watched what took place? It’s amazing. I try to remember this when I feel overwhelmed or should I say “small” in this huge Universe. I also like the quote… “You may feel insignificant in this World, But you are the World to someone else.” Each act of kindness, although might seem to go unnoticed, affects those around you. Be the light for others…Be the Change You Wish to See in the World… Gandhi
